Hi, I have a 2005 Xterra that failed while running along a logging road. Some of the warning/indicating lights started to come on so we pulled over, shut the truck off thinking something needed to be reset and that was the end. The truck will not turn over so I had to tow the truck home. I found the service bulletin suggesting the ground connections could be the issue and I removed the aftermarket alarm system thinking that too could be the problem but nothing has worked.

Any suggestions as to where I start looking?

Fault code U1000 indicates problems with CAN communication network. Check the wiring to make sure the CAN wires are not shorted or cut.
