Connection issues resolved.

I've just bought the Nissan DataScan II Windows program, and am now running it successfully on my laptop.

When I first connected my VAG 409.1 cable. I couldn't get it to connect unless I continually pressed connect, but it would often lose the connection again.
I've found a way to get a better data flow which might help.

Once you've connected up your generic cable via USB, and ensured that the laptop is reading from the correct port, go into your Windows Control panel, and click on Hardware and Sound/ and in theDevices and Printers section, click on Device Manager.

Now look for Ports (COM & LPT).

Double click on this and identify the cable. In my case it comes up as USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM 3).

Double click on this, and then go to the 'Port Settings' Tab and then click on the little downward facing > to the right of the 'Bits per second' window.

When I first connected, this was set at 9600 bits per second. I reset it to 4800 and data flow improved tremendously. It May be you need to go even lower to say 2400, but whatever, it has made life much easier.

You may still have to click CONNECT a few times, but once you have connected, it tends to keep the connection.

Thanks for this hint! I'll have to give it a try.
