Cannot connect to ECU

Post by Jylppy »

Hi,

I tried to search for similiar topics, but couldn't find one - so here goes..

I have Nissan Primera P12 -04 (prod. 09/04) with 2.2 dCi diesel engine. I noticed that it is in supported vehicles list for NDSII. I purchased ODBII adapter from dx.com (OBDII USB Car Diagnostic Cable - Blue adaptor. Available from www.dx.com) which also is in supported adaptors list for NDSII.

Anyway, my problem is that when I try to connect, an error message is shown:

"Detected unsupported ISO 14230-2 protocol"

Can somebody tell, what might be the problem here? From FSM I found DLC circuit description, which is attached.

Thanks!

Are you trying to connect from the ECM or ECMD tab?

Well, I have non-registered version at the moment (since I wanted to try it first and see if it works). I'm not sure what tab I'm using, but when I start the software there is "connect" button in lower left side of the startup screen. That one I'm using.

You are doing the right thing by testing the unregistered software before purchasing the license.

The NDSII software by default starts in the ECM tab. Towards the top of the main window, just below the menu you will see different tabs (ECM, BCM, TCM, ABS, SRS, ECMD, OBDII and WBO2). Those are for selecting to which ECU you want to connect. Select the ECMD tab and try connecting.

Hi again, sorry for long delay..

I've now tried with two different adaptors ("OBDII USB Car Diagnostic Cable - Blue adaptor" as berfore, and "VAGCOM USB KKL 409.1 adaptor", which I purchased few days ago), but cannot connect to ECU.

Now I tried to connect to ECMD, and result is "connection failed" every time. I've tried all possible combinations from preferences, and also tried to search for ECU there - nothing.

Any ideas, why I can't connect?

Make sure you are using the correct Com Port number. Confirm through Device Manager what Com Port number was assigned to your adapter.
Also try changing the "Ini Timer Offset" to positive and negative values. Try connecting each time you make a change.

Are you still getting the "Detected unsupported ISO 14230-2 protocol" message?

Hi,

Yes, I have checked COM port and used correct one. I've also tried to use different USB ports with the adaptor (and changed COM port accordingly). I'll try to those Ini timer changes and report results ASAP. I've also downloaded some other ODBII softwares, just to ensure that adaptor(s) are OK, will try with them also.

No, I don't get that ISO-protocol error anymore, I think that it was caused by trying go connect wrong instance (some other instead of ECMD in this case).

Thanks for the advice!
