Primera P12, no connection!

Post by savvas »

Hello to all, is my first post and I'm clad to be here.
I'm from Greece (sorry for my bad English).
Well, I have a Nissan Primera P12 02/2003 1.6cc petrol and I tried NDS II demo to connect it, but no success.
On bottom left message says "connection failed"!
I have try all com ports from 1 to 12, with no success.
I had successful connection with ScanMaster - ELM 2.1, but it gives only 2 pids (tachometer and air intake flow).

What else I can do to fix NDS II connection?

Make sure you enter the correct Com Port number for your adaptor in Settings->Communication window.

Hi

Assuming you are using the correct cable, I connect using VAGCOM type USB cable, see for list of useable cables http://home.exetel.com.au/nds/NDSII/ind ... edadaptors

Came up with COM17 on my Windows 7 Laptop on first connection with the KKL VAG-COM 409.1 - I got the lead of Ebay supplier as I am in the UK. I have FTDI Com Port software, however FTDI did not pick up the connection. So how to find out your COM Port ?

I am going to assume you do not know how to find your COM Port, so apologies if you do already. To find out your COM port number do as follows : Right click on your desktop My Computer icon and select properties. Then select Device Manager from Control Panel Home on left hand side, a new window should open called Device Manager 8-)

You can also select the Device Manger directly from you Control Panel depending which version of Windows you are running, and you knowledge of same.

Once you have the Device Manager, click View tab at the top and select Devices by type. You should then see a list of all your devices, open or click on the Ports (COM and LPT) label or little arrow pointing to it and a drop down list will appear.

You will see all the assigned connections with labels such as BT Port (COM10), DO NOT CHANGE THESE. Just plug in your USB cable, and the list should automaticly refresh, with the last entry being the newly assigned connection to your USB cable, in my case the label showed USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM17)

Job Done you now have the connection port number, use the same physical connection each time and you will get the same port number (COM number) Hope this helps. :D Let us know how you get on.

Hi TheBoss,
I know how to find the right com port!
(Just mention, in the past I had programed many "white satellite cards" for ir**to, by phoenix programmer or cas interface 3 plus through com ports).
I own these connectors:
http://www.buyincoins.com/new_en/detail ... 12176.html
http://www.buyincoins.com/new_en/detail ... 12181.html
My PC's and my laptop run in WinXp SP3, in classic (win98) appearance (is my favorite choice). ;)

This week I tried again to uninstall/install NDS2, ftdi drivers, etc, but nothing change!
Next weekend I will try to change order, first start laptop->run NDS2->start engine->connect the cable!

Thanks for your answer, Savvas

The second (VAG COM) adaptor will work with NDSII.
Remember to select the "Generic adaptor" option in the Comms window. If you are using an older computer try changing the "Ini Timer Offset". Just change by one and try to connect, if it doesn't connect change it again.
