Nisbie won't connect to NDS

Hi all, I've got a 1989 300ZX TT, which I've been using a Nisbie to talk to my ECU via Bluetooth to my android phone with no issues.

I've recently got an android head unit which has Bluetooth, so I'd hoped I could just pair it to that instead and have NDS on the screen. But when trying to connect, I can get it to pair but the app just won't transmit or receive. Confirmed the adapter is okay because I can still use it on my phone once I pair it to it again. The Bluetooth in the head unit works too since my phone does calls okay through it.
