New activation

Post by cgalli »

Just got through the registration process and connected to vehicle (2000 Frontier XE). Connected to ECU 10 but active test (F6) window is not allowing me to do anything. Everything is greyed out. This feature was the main reason I bought NDSII. Can anyone help? Appreciated.

The NDSII software only enables functions that are supported by the ECU. Looks like your ECU is not supporting any of them. What is the engine in your car?

I believe is the KA24DE engine. It is a 4 cylinder 2.3L
How can that be that the ECU can communicate 2 way with a SnapOn machine at my mechanic's shop and not using the NDSII??

That explains it. The KA24DE is an old engine and still uses the older Consult I protocol for more advanced diagnostics. The OBDII connection was installed for compliance regulations and can only do basic diagnostics.

Your car should either:
- have another 14-pin Consult I connector
or
- pins 12 and 13 on the OBDII connector are used for the Consult I connection.

You need to use the NDSI software with a Consult I adapter to access the Active Test functions.
