Hello,

I have Nissan Data Scan 2.53 unregistered version.

I cannot connect to my Nissan 2004 Sentra Spev V ECU and I cannot connect directly to the adapter (generic and Blitz cable tests). All 4 USB ports were tested using windows 7.
I see power on the adapter and the OBD light flashes when searching for the ECU.

Suggestions?

Thanks

Update:
Confirmed port number and I can communicate with ECU using OBD2 software that came with cable. (I can read codes).

Using Generic adapter
1. Set COM port and save
2. ECU ID in Hex left as default settings
3. With DTR selected and not selected, ran find ECU.
Ini Timer Offset +5 to -5 (result No Active ECU)
4. Connect to ECM etc. connect failed

Vgate OBD adaptor is a Bluetooth adaptor that uses an ELM327 chip for communication. Adaptors based on ELM327 chips are not supported by NDSII. A lot of NDSII functions could not be implemented using the ELM327 chip.

You need a generic VAG COM adaptor like listed on our website http://home.exetel.com.au/nds/NDSII/ind ... edadaptors

Thanks Tom,

Vgate actually makes the USB to ODB2 cable just the Vagcom.
I have both the Blue Tooth adapter and the USB to ODB2 adapter.

In this case I was using the USB to the ODB2 cable via my Laptop. If the cable can communicate with other software to the ECU, should also work with NDS2? Or should I buy another adapter?

You need a cable that doesn't have any smarts (no ELM327 chip). Other software might be able to connect to your car using the ELM327 cable but would have very limited functionality. That doesn't mean the cable will work with NDSII software.

Thanks, Tom
I'll try connecting to another Nissan and if I still have an issue, I'll look for another cable.

Success!

I purchased another cable from ebay and I was able to program a new key for my 2004 Sentra.
Cable: KLL VAG-COM for 409.1 CE

Settings
1. Set COM port and save (COM 11 in my case)
2. ECU ID in Hex left as default settings as 10
3. Generic adapter
4. DTR not selected
5. Ini Timer Offset to -5

If your ECU address is 10, there is no need to find the ECU. Just save and connect. I found that it is best to go into device manager to identify the correct COM port (mine was COM 11) that is active with the cable. Also sometimes if I could not establish a connection I needed to restart NDS II.
