So i purchased a generic KKL VAG -COM 409.1, i messed with all the options to include diff laptops with diff operating systems, and have done plenty of research of connectivity issues. I'm going to assume it is my cable.

My question is do i specifically need a KKL VAG cable with a ftbi chip? Or does NDS II work w the cables that have the CH30 chip?

I took my cable apart after noticing the driver automatically downloaded via windows 7 is for a CH30, which my cable has...

The NDSII software is not USB chip specific. It just needs to connect to the Com Port number assigned to the adapter. The driver is responsible for assigning the Com Port number to the adapter.

In short, yes , you can use a cable with CH30 chip.

BTW. What car and engine model are you trying to connect to?
