Large Vapor Leak

I had a large vapor leak (Mal) and tried to find it first by making a gas cap with
a air coupling to pressurize it to a few psi , maybe to help find the leak ...
It did not .. but I fear it may have caused a sensor to adjust the timing belts
and off set the timing adjustment.
This is why I purchased the DataScan II and used it to try and set the timing , idle and re-learn.
But the re-learn did not complete .. probably due to the large vapor leak.
I have since downloaded the v2.52 software and yet tried it.
My question is did pressurizing the fuel tank set adjustments off and can this be fixed easily ?
