ECM Part Number

This is the main window of the NDS III software which shows the ECM Nissan Identification part number and the VIN number if available.

Basic and Advance Functions can be selected by clicking on the buttons, using the shortcut keys (F1 – F12) or using the Menu bar. All real time functions are disabled until communication with the ECU is established.

At the bottom of the window, next to the temperature and speed units, we can see which type of wideband O2 sensor was identified by the software.

The progress bar indicates communication between the ECU and PC. If the bar is not moving, the data is not being received from the ECU.

Data Display

The Data Display function uses 12 gauges and 9 registers to display real time information about the engine as measured or calculated by the engine ECU. Parameters are assigned to gauges using the Data Display Settings function.

Data Display Settings

The Data Display Settings function is used to assign parameters and registers to be displayed by the Data Display function. Only parameters that are supported by the currently connected ECU are available for selection.

Data Logging

Parameters and registers can be logged to a file. This function can also be accessed from the Data Display function. The saved data log file can be analysed using the Data Replay or Log Analyser functions.

Self Diagnostics

The Self Diagnostics function reads and resets engine ECU fault codes.

Idle Adjustment

The Idle Adjustment function allows users to increase the base idle RPM. The setting is saved to the ECU and it does not reset with an engine restart.

Timing Adjustment

The Timing Adjustment function adjusts the base ignition timing. The setting is saved to the ECU and it does not reset with engine restart.

Active Test

The Active Test function can be used to temporarily modify some of the engine parameters. They return to their original values when a function is stopped, PC disconnected, or engine restarted.

Note: It is possible to damage the engine if the A/F Base % function is used to excessively modify the fuel delivery. Likewise, the engine may overheat if the Engine Temperature is set too low for a long period of time. Do not use those functions if you are not sure how they will affect your engine.

Work Support

The Work Support functions allow users to perform some of the advance service procedures. Those procedures may need to be performed after replacement parts are installed.

Clear Self Learn – clears the A/F Base Self Learn map learned by the ECU.

Idle Air Volume Learn – is an operation to learn the fully closed position of the throttle valve.

Exhaust Valve Timing Control Learn – is an operation to learn the characteristic of exhaust valve timing control magnet retarder by comparing the target angle of exhaust camshaft with the actual retarded angle of exhaust camshaft.

M/T Neutral Position Learn – is an operation to learn the shift lever neutral position.

Program Immobiliser Key Fob – programs immobiliser keys on vehicles equipped with Nissan Intelligent Key system.

Cylinder Power Test

The Cylinder Power Test function can be used to identify cylinder that is underperforming. This function allows shutting down individual cylinders. If all of cylinders are producing the same amount of power, then the engine RPM will drop the same amount on each cylinder.

Live Graph

The Live Graph function has 5 sets of graphs to display live parameter and register readings. The reading can be stopped and restarted. This function is particularly useful for visualising parameter changes over time. The variables are assigned to graphs in the Live Graph Settings window.

The Live Graph Settings function is used to assign parameters and registers to graphs in the Live Graph function. Only parameters and registers that are supported by the currently connected ECU are available for selection. Graph colours can be individually customised.

Speed Test

The Speed Test function is a unique function for measuring car’s acceleration performance. Predefined or user specified tests can be used. Due to the low resolution of Nissan speed sensors, measurements should only be used as a guide.

Note: This function should not be used while on public roads.

Address Watch

The Address Watch function is used for monitoring ECU memory addresses. By monitoring a memory address, additional information can be retrieved that is not normally available using the Consult III protocol. A knock sensor reading can be obtain using this method if knock sensor memory address is known.

Log Analyser

The Log Analyser function can be used to review log files previously generated with the Data Logging function. Graphs are drawn by selecting boxes next to parameter value. Graph colours match the parameter value colours.

Data Replay

The Data Replay function replays previously saved data logs. Replay can be speeded up or slowed down using the Replay speed scroll bar. The Position scroll bar controls which log record is currently displayed.

ECMD

The ECMD tab shows the Diesel ECM Nissan Identification part number. Basic Functions can be selected by clicking on the buttons or using the Menu bar. All real time functions are disabled until communication with the ECU is established.

Config Clear – Initializes the ASCD application status.

DPF Data Clear – Should only be performed when DPF is replaced. Based on the signal from sensors ECM estimates the amount of particulate matter in diesel particulate filter and stores the value in EEPROM as diesel particulate filter data. When oxidation catalyst with diesel particulate filter is replaced with a new one, there is a difference between diesel particulate filter data stored in ECM and the actual amount of particulate matter in diesel particulate filter, because no particulate matter is trapped in new diesel particulate filter. In this case, ECM cannot perform regeneration control correctly. Do not perform this function if DPF is not replaced with a new one. Diesel particulate filter may be damaged because regeneration is not performed at appropriate timing.

Pump Leant Clear – In order to always keep optimum fuel pressure in fuel rail, the ECM controls fuel pump in high precision with monitoring the signal of fuel rail pressure sensor. Accordingly, the ECM always learns characteristic value of fuel pump. Fuel Pump Learning Value Clearing is an operation to clear the value of the fuel pump learning.

EGR Valve Learn Clear – EGR volume control valve closed position learning value should be cleared when EGR volume control valve is removed or replaced.

Injector Adjustment Value Clear – Initializes injector adjustment value stored in ECM.

Fuel injection quantity learning is performed to adjust fuel injection quantity deviated during the use of injectors under various conditions to properly adjust the injection quantity. If this learning is not performed, then malfunctions, such as knocking and poor acceleration may occur.

Injector Registration

The Injector Adjustment Value Registration function allows users to display the current injector registration values and update them if needed.

Injector adjustment value indicates manufacturing tolerance and the value is printed on the top of fuel injector. The injector adjustment value which is correctly stored in ECM is needed for precise fuel injection control. A performance of emission control and a drivability may be affected when there is a mismatch.

Deterioration Level

This function only applies to CVT transmissions and displays CVT fluid deterioration level as calculated by the TCM.

CVTF Deterioration Level Reset – resets the CVT fluid deterioration level counter.

Steering Angle Sensor Reset – After removing/installing or replacing VDC/TCS/ABS control unit, steering angle sensor, steering components, suspension components, tyres, or after adjusting wheel alignment, make sure to adjust neutral position of steering angle sensor before running vehicle.

BCM

BCM Part Number

The BCM tab shows the Body Control Module Nissan Identification part number. Basic Functions are selected by clicking on the buttons. All functions are disabled until communication with the ECU is successfully established.

The progress bar indicates communication between the ECU and PC. If the bar is not moving, the data is not being received from the ECU.

Self Diagnostics

The Self Diagnostics function reads and resets BCM error codes.

Remote Key Test

The Remote Key Test function allows users to test registered and not registered remote controls. Pressing a button on the remote control shows the memory location associated with the registered key. If the key is not registered, the “Non Regist” indicator is activated.

Key Registration Status

The Key Registration Status function shows which memory slots are allocated to registered keys. This function can be used to quickly check how many keys are programmed for the car.

Encrypted Immobiliser PIN

The Encrypted Immobiliser PIN function displays the 5- or 12-digit encrypted immobiliser PIN. This PIN needs to be decrypted to a 4-digit immobiliser PIN to be used for programming immobiliser keys.

SRS

SRS Part Number

IPDM

AV

AFS

4WAS F

4WAS Front Part Number

The 4WAF F tab shows the 4 Wheel Active Steer Front System ecu Nissan Identification part number. Basic Functions are selected by clicking on the buttons. All functions are disabled until communication with the ECU is successfully established.

4WAS R

4WAS Rear Part Number
